What does your TV box say about you
It’s been a while since the “magic box” has more colors than black and white. If, on the one hand, TV has become increasingly complex, on the other hand, it has more and more tools to make your life easier. The EPG is one of them, and it can say more about you than you ever imagined.
You may not know what EPG is, but it is very likely that it is regularly present at your home. No, we are not talking about any cosmic or omnipresent force, and even less about ghosts! The EPG is the service that prepares your TV box “behind the scenes” and simplifies access to a great amount of information. Have you ever had problems with how schedules and synopses arrive to your TV screen? We’ll explain.
From the begging. The Electronic Programming Guide is the tool that organizes the material sent by the TV channels. It’s not only about TV schedules, but also up to the EPG editor to improve, as much as possible, the information available for all TV shows (e.g. synopses and casts). The viewer, on the other hand, can go straight to what interests him: at the moment of truth, controlling his TV is so easy that even a child can do it (bad news is there will be another person “fighting” for the TV remote control…).
In the end, what can the EPG say about you?
“Homemade” Usain Bolt: The person next to you hasn’t finished talking yet, and you are already holding the TV remote control in your hand ready to unravel the next television mystery, like a couch-Sherlock Holmes. What has happened in the last seven days, what is happening and what will happen: you don’t miss a thing, and if necessary, you even give detailed information. To see, to record, or just to ask questions. As agile with the remote as Cristiano Ronaldo with his feints, you will only let go when you feel your “mission is accomplished”. And you will only fall to the ground by a foul play!
The television marathonist: If your concept of a marathon is done without leaving your home, the television box can become one of your best friends. You can record all the episodes of a TV show, just one season, watch something that happened in the last seven days… Keeping a busy schedule has never been so easy, so the difficult thing is having time to watch everything. In addition, you can also use the episode synopses to find out in what point you are in and, when the marathon is over, you can search for other similar TV show to prepare yourself for the next race.
The next Quentin Tarantino: Between the age of 17 and 21, the director of “Pulp Fiction” (1994) and “Django Unchained” (2012) has seen around 200 films a year. Known for his irreverent style, Quentin Tarantino also made history by defending that going to the movies, or watching movies, is one of the best schools you can have. As such, if you prefer to watch cinema at home, the choice is diverse and has no additional costs: just filter by film and then by genre (action, comedy, etc.), immediately having access to an enviable library of movies from the last seven days.
The number one fan: One of the fundamental pieces of information when editing movies and TV shows is the cast. Therefore, if you prefer, you can simply search what has been going on with your favorite actor, actress or director. On the other hand, you can also get to know the biographies of your idols, as we have several hundred original biographies of actors and directors in our database. Get to know the main curiosities, highlights, and victories of some of the leading name of cinema and TV at national and international level. This service is also provided independently outside the EPG system.
The lazy one: If laziness could be your middle name, and you want a service that helps you to choose what to see, you won’t want to miss what we have in store for you! InfoPortugal‘s recommendations application will be the answer to your prayers, because, based on your preferences, our algorithm will help you find the next movie or TV shows with just a click or two.
